Across the Techverse #4
Your one-stop resource to the technical writing world.
Hello, world!
Welcome to the fourth issue of Across the Techverse, your one-stop resource to stay updated with the most incredible tech writers in Substack and beyond.
The Tech Writers Stack is one month old! We have over 150 subscribers and a whole new look. Check our brand new (still rough around the edges) Directory Page to find our first batch of registered members.
NOTE: If you previously registered for our directory via a Substack comment, we kindly ask that you update your info in the following Google Form (if you still haven’t done so) to feature you in our new directory.
🍰 Cool goodies from The Stack
This week we launched a (still in beta) service that allows you to publish your Substack post links on social media (especially on Twitter) without getting demoted. To use it, convert your post links to the format:
https://open.techwriters.info/substack/post
For example, this very post would be https://open.techwriters.info/techwriters/across-the-techverse-4.
Also, you can share a link directly to your substack like this:
https://open.techwriters.info/substack
Try it out on Twitter, and you’ll see it beautiful renders media previews, and it doesn’t get penalized like raw substack links. This service is free for all our members and will forever be. Special thanks to
for hacking the core of this idea! For next week, we’re preparing some cool things for you, including a Discord server to host community events and a subscription model to allow those interested in giving back to support our work.
And now, without further ado, here’s the content for this week.
🎥 Previously on The Stack
On Tuesday, we started the week with an interview with Stephen Gruppetta from The Python Coding Stack. Stephen shares his origin story and discusses how he shares stories designed to introduce people to Python.
The Techwriter Highlight - Stephen Gruppetta
Hello stackers! This week on the Tech Writer Highlight, we host Stephen Gruppetta. Stephen writes about programming in Python at The Python Coding Stack and technical writing at Breaking the Rules. In this post, he shares his origin story and details on his writing process.
And on Thursday, we published a post by our chief editor Alejandro Piad Morffis on engaging your audience with the simple Why-What-How framework. Alejandro shares a framework on how best to share Technical Content in a format interesting to non-technical readers.
Start with Why
We’ve all been there. You wrote the perfect blog post for solving that painful problem elegantly. Your readers should be delighted; there’s everything they might want to know. And yet, hardly anyone reads the whole thing...
Are you a tech writer? Do you want to belong to a community of like-minded writers, find inspiration and help for your writing, and collaborate with others? Leave us a comment to get yourself included.
