Hey stackers! Welcome to our weekly shout-out thread.
We’ve improved things a bit over here, and now we know what you wrote last week.
So this week, just let us know something you’re proud of and want the community to celebrate with you. It can be a recent milestone you crossed, a collaborator you met, a cool insight you gained, a nice comment you received, … anything!
Happy weekend everyone, so I've had exams and have been out of touch but I do have some exciting news!
so I’m working on a short 6-article series comprehensively explaining AI infrastructures; Hardware infrastructure, Software Infrastructure, Data Management Infrastructure, and Scalable AI infrastructures.
I got the inspiration from Andrew's article on Exasperating AI Infrastructures( will be linked below), my aim with this is to provide a comprehensive overview of the infrastructures supporting AI systems.
I recently crossed the 1000+ subscribers and continue to maintain high readership volumes, which means my subscribers are actually reading the stuff I put out. This makes for the time and effort I put in totally worth it.
Honestly, I feel humbled and motivated. Motivated to push forward and put out writing that is interesting and easy-to-read, satifying my own curiosity as well as making AI understandable for a wider audience.
This week I got my first physical proof copy of my upcoming novel on Advanced AI. It's fun to hold the actual book in my hand vs. seeing it on a screen. The short tag-line is: "In the battle over advanced AI will we lose our humanity or find what really makes us human?" It's an exploration into technology, psychology, sociology, and biology about what makes us tick, and whether that's possible AI. You can see more here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C7NBZX89
I am super happy about the collaborative spirit that surrounds this place, and I'm pleased to report that just this past week, I was able to work with several different authors, including Edem and Alejandro from the Tech Writers' Stack. One favorite piece has been this piece with Sam Sklar: https://goatfury.substack.com/p/exasperating-ai-infrastructures-a
I'm also really happy with the conversational interview pieces, typically with non-substack folks. I can tap into experts who happen to also be my subscribers, and that makes me really happy:

That's neat! I look forward to reading these as they come in.

I’m particularly happy with my latest article: https://jurgengravestein.substack.com/p/did-gpt-4-really-develop-a-theory
It even got featured briefly in the podcast GAIN (Generative AI News) which is produced by Synthedia (highly recommend following them).
Lastly, I’m really happy that I joined this group and had the opportunity to connect with some of the writers I follow here on Substack 🙏
Great milestone!
Really feels that way! Up to the next 1000 ;)
Way to go, Jurgen!
Much appreciated! I'm a fan of your writing too, btw!
That's awesome. Let's think of a way to work together in the future. Meantime, I'm super happy to continue supporting your work here! it's good stuff.
Congratulations Jurgen! How does 1k feel?

That's so cool. I've only ever published textbooks and it does feel nice, so I can only imagine how proud you must be!
It's cool. Super apprehensive. Feedback this far is good... Would love to have some solid sales.
